Stocks plunge in late-day sell-off

Jul. 27 - Blue chips suffered their third triple-digit loss in five days as investors continued to worry tighter lending standards will lead to fewer blockbuster deals. The Dow tumbled 208 points to 13,265. The Nasdaq slid 37 points to 2,562. The S&P 500 lost 23 points to 1,458. Crude oil set its second highest closing price on record. Conway G. Gittens reports from New York.
