The Spinners (They just can't stop it) Games People Play R.I.P PERVIS JACKSON

Back

The Spinners "Games People Play" 1975 They Just Can't Stop It (Games People Play)", also known as "Games People Play", is a song recorded by American R&B vocal group The Spinners. Released in 1975 from their Pick of the Litter album, the song was a crossover success, spending a week at number one on the Hot Soul Singles chart and peaking at number five on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was co-written by Joseph B. Jefferson, Bruce Hawes and Charles Simmons and was produced by Thom Bell. Trading vocals with Bobby Smith and Pervis Jackson, whose resonant "12:45" interjection became a hallmark of the song, is backing session singer Barbara Ingram. Because the group was touring at the time, Henry Fambrough was unavailable to put the finishing touches on the recording. Bell was under the gun to complete the production, so he chose Ingram to step in, and in doing so lent a whole new dimension to the lyrical banter
