This was the soundtrack of M*A*S*H, both the film and the tv-series. The music was written by Johnny Mandel and the lyrics by Mike Altman, son of Robert Altman the director of the original film. Altman jr was only 14 at the time. The excellent cover here was made by Lady & Bird, a one-album duo consisting of french (and I think israeli?) singer/songwriter Keren Ann http://www.kerenann.com and Bardi Johannsson of Bang Gang http://www.banggang.net (he's from Iceland). Their other music is very nice, but I have a special affection for this album. Maybe it could be described as a dark fable where two characters decide to make themselves seen by jumping off a bridge (if just seen as the surface of the story). In short: find it, listen to it.
