WaterBox on N95 8GB

Back

** WaterBox 1.00 RELEASED! ** http://tmu.ath.cx/waterbox/ My first Symbian coding project. It's a fluid simulator that uses the built-in accelerometer of N95 8GB for gravity, smoothed particle hydrodynamics for fluid simulation and a really really lame metaball renderer for graphics. All graphics are done with OpenGL ES which probably isn't the best choice for 2D but since I was already familiar with OpenGL I chose to use it. This particular example uses 75 particles for the fluid simulation and runs on ~90-95 frames per second when using a much faster rendering method which only draws particles as simple points. Using the metaball renderer seen on this video reduces refresh rate to ~25-30 FPS. WaterBox is far from perfect and there are tons of improvements I want to do before even considering sharing the application so don't hold your breath waiting for the .sis. Btw, I got the original idea for this application when I saw one of the first iWater videos which was really short and poor quality and thought "Cool, they are actually using accelerometer with fluid simulation". It turned out to have a much simpler solution but the idea lived on... and as you can see, this ain't your average iWater! ;)
