Kobe Bryant 2005: 41 points vs Gilbert (14-24 FG)

Back

Date: December 16, 2006 Just one of many classic Kobe Bryant games. Bryant starts off to a slow 2-7 FG start against the Wizard's zone defense. However, that would soon change... Kobe proceeded to make 12 of his next 13 shots over the 2nd and 3rd quarters. His only miss was a non-call, which deprived him from setting a Lakers record of 12 consecutive Field Goals. Image of Kobe's made FGs: http://img2.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/247089aebd.jpg Kobe does it all in this game, as his entire arsenal is on display. Scoring, slashing, rebounding, the intangibles - you name it, he can do it. Throughout this game, the Wizards committed several hard fouls against Kobe in the lane. Regardless, Kobe still attacked the rim at will, even on a pair of bad knees. Had it not been for a phantom call to end the 3rd quarter, Bryant would have been well on his way to another 50+ point game. I decided not to include Kobe's made Free throws for his video. What I did highlight was Kobe's selfless trust of his teammates. Despite his scorching shooting, Bryant continually deferred to Lamar Odom - both to exploit matchups and boost his confidence. *Bryant was 14-24 for 41 points in only 37 minutes of play. Meanwhile, Arenas and Jamison combined for a wretched 11-40 FG. Full boxscore: http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/LAL20051216.html
